Workshop on Large Scale Computations on Grids (LaSCoG)
Poznan, Poland, September 11-14, 2005
Submission deadline has been extended
to May 15 !
Large Scale Computations on Grids (LaSCoG) Workshop will be held in
conjunction with the Sixth International
Conference on Parallel
Processing and Applied Mathematics (PPAM 2005)
The emerging paradigm for the execution of large-scale computations,
whether they originate as scientific or engineering applications, or
for supporting large data-intensive calculations, is to utilize
multiple computers at sites distributed across the Internet. In
particular, computational grids are collections of distributed,
possibly heterogeneous resources which can be
used as ensembles to execute large-scale applications. While the vision
of the global computational grid is extremely appealing, there remains
a lot of work on all levels to achieve it. In this context the LaSCoG
workshop is envisioned as a forum to promote the exchange of ideas and
results aimed at addressing complex issues that arise in developing
large-scale computations on grids and running applications on them.
Topics of interest cover interactions between large-scale problems and computational grids (and these
key-words should be used in the context of each of the topics listed
below), in particular:
- Symbolic and numeric computations
- Data visualization
- Simulations
- Agent-based computing
- Algorithms and their implementation
- Programming models
- Data models
- Science portals
- Collaborative science applications
- Performance analysis, evaluation and prediction
- Dynamic scheduling and load balancing
- Security issues

WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS
PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
All rules of paper submission of
the PPAM conference apply. In particular:
- Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their
scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics.
- Papers presented at the Workshop will be included into the
conference proceedings and published after the conference by Springer in the LNCS series.
- Before the Workshop, abstracts of accepted papers will be posted
on its WWW site.
- Authors should submit papers (as Postscript or PDF files)
to Przemyslaw Stpiczynski,
before May 15, 2005. Papers are not to exceed 8 pages (LNCS style).
- Final camera-ready versions of accepted papers will be required
by October 31, 2005.
- We are considering publication of a Special Issue of a journal,
based on extended versions of selected accepted papers.
